Central Woodlands Intermediate School

Project Title:  "Taking Back the Woodlands"

Problem to be solved:  Our campus has acres of invasive species.  The main types are autumn olive, oriental bittersweet, spotted knapweed and garlic mustard.  We had to pull, cut, tag and burn to start the process of getting rid of them.

Questions to be answered:

  • How do invasive species affect the land?
  • How can you get rid of invasive species?
  • What benefits do native plants bring to a landscape?
