The Most Common Questions About S2S
The Student2Steward or S2S website was developed as an alternative method for providing educators with a learning opportunity about understanding the tenets of place-based education (PBE) and service learning. The Groundswell program delivers professional development for teachers in a traditional, face-to-face format.
S2S was designed to deliver valuable information that you might receive in a PD setting…but in a self-paced, self-taught format. You choose your speed and goal!
Currently, we are not able to offer SB-CEUs or Continuing Education credits for the Learning Modules on the S2S site since we are in the ‘pilot’ phase. Part of this phase will allow us to see how long it takes a teacher to move through the lessons and associated quizzes. Once we have an idea of the time it takes to be committed to this we will move ahead with exploring professional credits and recognition for your work.
No, the certification does not have a fee. Nor does the use of the S2S site. Technically, the S2S certification (at this point) is not state-recognized for inclusion with your teaching certification. Our certificate is a recognition of your commitment to time and energy in growing your knowledge base and increasing your understanding about PBE and service learning. We feel this knowledge not only helps you to be a stronger teacher, but assists you in creating dynamic and engaging learning opportunities for your students.
